Provincial Color Guard Competition ResultsMar 28, 2011 Worthy Sirs:I have just returned from Delaware where the Provincial Color Guard Competition was held yesterday. Four District Teams from the Calvert Province competed: the Archdiocese of Washington (AWD), Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Pennsylvania sent several observers, in the hope of sending a team in the future. It is with the greatest of pride and joy that I announce that the Virginia District Flag Team under the leadership of District Marshal Tom Trudeau came in first place. Congratulations to Tom and the entire Virginia District Team. They practiced relentlessly over the past several months, driving many miles almost every weekend from all parts of the Virginia District, primarily to Yorktown and Lake Ridge. I attended several of their practices and can attest to their outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence. The award is well-deserved! The competition was exceedingly tough and tight -- the four District Masters were exacting in their judging, for every one of us want the Calvert Province to be the best in the Order. As I remarked in accepting the plaque, there were no losers, we were all winners, because the Calvert Province is one unit, dedicated to excellence. I want to thank the entire District Team for their many hours of hard work and the twelve members, who, at their own travel and hotel expense, drove to Delaware to participate in the competition this past weekend. Congratulations team! Now you have to get ready to defend the title next year! Fraternally, Cy District Master P.S. It was Tom's birthday yesterday -- what a great birthday present! P. P.S. The Team inaugurated their new set of Flags at the competition. They looked great! |
